Morph Cut Exploration

As part of my #adobecreativeresidency, I’ve been experimenting with different AI features to improve my artistic process. Today, I want to tell you about what happens when you manipulate technology to heighten your art. 😏 I love creating GIF’s in Photoshop. For this piece, I had the idea of creating a “Bewitched” effect where I turn the pages of a coffee table book telepathically. As I was exporting the individual frames, I thought it would be cool to add sound to make the animation feel more realistic, so in the process I learned about a feature called Morph Cut in Premiere Pro. Morph Cut is a video transition that uses a combination of face tracking and optical flow interpolation to create seamless transitions between clips, especially in interviews. By nature, it’s meant to be used on faces. But if you know anything about me, you know how I love testing how artificial intelligence behaves when you break the rules.
